HISTORY OF RAY DEVELOPMENT PROJECTS (RAYDEP)

RAYDEP is a Consortium of charity organizations of youth groups working together registered under the Community-Based Organization (CBO) ACT in Kenya. Responding to Activities of the Youths in Development Projects (RAYDEP) was formed in 2007 under the umbrella of the HIV/AIDS project undertaken by the partnership of the Kenya Aids NGO Consortium (KANCO), Community Capacity Building Initiative (CCBI), Kibera Community Self-Help Project (KICOSHEP), the Kenya Medical Association (KMA), the National Organization of Peer Educators (NOPE) and the Maendeleo Ya Wanawake Organization (MYWO) from 2005-20010.

The five-year project ended, thereafter leaving the youths to carry on their own activities. The project benefited the youths in Kiambu County, Machakos County and Kajiado County and their environs. The youths were equipped with the capacity to change their own lives and that of others in their communities through sharing of knowledge and passing on information to their peers on behaviour change on HIV/AIDS and other socio-economics activities. The youth groups head office is in Ongata Rongai town, Ngong Sub-County in Kajiado County with branches in Thika town in Kiambu County and Mlolongo town in Machakos County respectively.

Our mission is to make sure all young people and children get all the support they need, when they need it, no matter what it is.

Whether it is a reassuring conversation, financial help, education, professional training, or simply the assurance that they are not alone, we will make sure that everyone gets support that meets them where they’re at as quickly as possible.

Our Vision

We want to build a world where no child or youth feels alone and gets every possible help they need as soon as possible.

Our entire team wants to see a world where every youngster struggling in any way feels able to reach out and has people who’ll help them with education, jobs, and more. We want to spread out in every region so we’ll be reachable to all.
